THEORY OF FIRST IMPRESSION, ITS HAVOC ON HUMMANITY

What is first impression and why are people so crazy about it; lets work with this definition: FIRST: earlier than rest , occurring before others in a series; IMPRESSION : what stays in somebody's mind: a lasting effect, opinion, or mental image of somebody or something. So reconcile these thought to your taste and derive the definition for your self; but which ever way they say you cannot judge a book by its cover, consequently it would be plunder and a waste of your time and resource to subscribe to first impression.

Companies, countries, establishment and even religious premises have lost so much including time because of this factor and the funniest of it is that the menace has been re-occurring for centuries and lessons have not yet been derived from this theory; they say people are the best asset, every body is good but every is not right; so this makes people put up appearances and attitudes to deceive other people. Even in the bible, the first king of Israel was chosen out of fist impression and it cost Israel a great deal, companies have lost billions of dollars, institutions are built on decit, marriages fail easily due to first impression, relationships, people are hurt and dwell in it because of this problem, generations are destroyed due to this first impression; you reading this now is a victim of first impression so why do you still subscribe to it?

How would you feel when someone judges you and have a negative impression of you in five minutes of meeting you (draws conclusion to your personality because a gesture), trust me you don’t want that! I can assure you that the energy and resource you would put together to avoid that can be used productively and would yield result; why invest on your impression towards people while there is a dying world to save? You are a CEO and you employ someone because you think he/she is responsible because of fluency in English and decency in dressing, trust me you will soon discover that all that glitters aren’t gold; there is more to people than what you can see, my Christian brothers would opt to marry a girl because she can sing so angelic or she would go crazy about the guy because he is funny! Wow what a danger, that’s why we have problems keeping a home, a lot of broken marriages and some folks outside Africa are proud to be a single mother or father, what a shame? My mum would say it’s not about getting married, it’s about staying married!

How else can I try to convince you that this theory has done more harm than good, even in government politicians put up appearances and gestures, suddenly becomes generous and careful so as to win votes, funny the populace would always be deceived, trust me even in the next election; first impression would be used to judge candidates. Companies have crumbled, till tomorrow HR firms would continue to make million dollar mistakes because of this factor; am so sorry for you if your friendship for someone was built on this premise.

Wait a minute, before you argue with me, first impression is important and useful but should not be the basis or bedrock for perception; it shouldn’t be a guild for your relationship with someone or something! It should not be a motivator or catalyst for relationships. It’s your job to find out more, be patient and optimistic enough towards the next person; in primary school we where taught the person next to us is our neighbor. contrary to present day soceity present
